My dad was raised on a farm. He bred his own animals. When he was 18 he constructed his first tractor – from the scratch, part by part. He worked as a welder, mechanic and production manager. Nonetheless animal care and slaughter together with meat preparation were his most unique skills. According to the worldview of my dad the ability of providing and preparing food for a family is fundamental. He tried to pass it on to me and my brother, however without success. Our modern sensibility and doubts connected with butcher’s profession are hard to grasp for him.
