Myself Ranita Roy from Andul, a small town near Kolkata, India. I completed Master degree in Environmental Science from Asutosh College (Kolkata). Photography is a kind of meditation for me. I started photography in 2015. I love to capture everything around me, yet I have a very special interest in Narrative photography. Through this medium of art, I express myself and remain good. I joined Thomson Reuters in March 2019 as a Freelance Photojournalist. Completed different projects under many international and national agencies. Bagged scholarship from NOOR for Foundry Photojournalism Workshop 2018, Timothy Allen Photography Scholarship Award 2018, VII Academy scholarship for Finding your visual voice workshop -New York (2019). from 2019-2020 got Fellowship from WaterAid India and selected for Women Photograph mentorship program. Also I gained advance knowledge in narrative photography from New Directions by Sohrab Hura (Kolkata), National Geographic Photo Camp (Kolkata)2018 and in 2019 I'm selected for 7th annual New York Portfolio Review organized by The New York Times at New York. I have won diverse photography challenges in National and International level including UNESCO (Climate change), 7th National Photography Award (India), Honorable Mention in Marilyn Stafford Foto Reportage Award, West Bengal State Award by Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation and being top 10 finalists of International Women Photographer Award 2017. Many of my photos and photograph stories were published in various media like Reuters, The New York Times, BBC, The Guardian, The National (UAE), The Economic Times, Hindustan Times, Feature Shoot etc.
