Grandpa has been raised in neighbouring village, married grandma and moved to our farm. However later he emigrated for work, as many other Poles in those times. For the period of 11 years he has been working in Austria, Germany and USA. He was a physical worker – welded, repaired, operated machines. Foreign currency was a strong enough argument to leave his friends, family and farm. Grandfather kept in touch with his relatives by writing letters, later on also by phone. Video conversations didn’t exist then. Finally he returned to Poland. He became a plumber and a mechanic. He is already retired.Together with grandmother they run the farm. They do it more by the sense of duty and tradition than the real need.
