From February 28 to March 6, 2013, more than 40 temples were vandalized, Hindu properties were looted; houses and shops of Hindus were burned down. The districts where the violence took part are: Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Gaibanda, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Barisal, Faridpur, Brahminbaria, Sirajgonj, Jaipurhat, Netrakona, Feni etc. Government has held the Jamaat-e-Islam responsible for the brutal activities but the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islam denied any involvement in violence against the Hindu minority. This violence was mainly trigged right after the tribunal sentenced Delwar Hossain Sayeedi (vice president of Jamaat-e-Islam) to death by hanging because of finding him guilty in 8 of the 20 charges, including mass killing, rape, arson, looting and forcing Hindus to convert to Islam during 1971 the Liberation war of Bangladesh.
