Mojgan Ghanbari was born in Tehran, Iran. Her career in journalism started at the age of 20 with a position at a local magazine where she started forming interest in journalism and photography. To express her vision using journalistic tools, she started enhancing her skills using camera to capture a small piece of someone’s life. In 2014, she completed a Masters in photojournalism and documentary photography at the London College of Communication. Most of her works are rooted in her personal history and are explores the ways in which she, and other people, interact with, or affected by society. She has spent the last few years documenting her cultural background and daily life of Iranian women.
Her works have been awarded for the Getty Images Grant for editorial photography in 2015, Magnum Photos: Professional Practice, the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship for academic study in 2014. She joined the VII mentor program in 2016 and participated in the Joop Swart Masterclass in 2017. Her work has been exhibited in the United Kingdom, France, US and Iran. She is currently based in Tehran, Iran
